Participants will gain knowledge of basketball skills and team-play of the sport. Youth of a younger age can participate in small-sided skill games of basketball, Kings’ Corner, HORSE, Dribble Tag, and more.  Classes meet twice a week.

• Registration:  The deadline is Saturday, December 7, 2024.  There will be a $5.00 late fee after the deadline.  Once teams have been filled, your child may be put on a waiting list.
• Practices will begin the week of January 6, 2025. Teams will practice one day per week for one hour.
• Coaches will determine the practice day and time.  Your Coach will contact you with this information prior to your first practice.
• The first game will played on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Muscatine Community YMCA Youth Basketball is a developmental, recreational program for boys and girls in grades K through 8.  The program’s objectives are:  development of basketball skills, teaching sportsmanship and fair play, socialization among teammates and other teams, and enjoying the sport of basketball.

How are the coaches picked?
All of our coaches are volunteers.  Some of them are Y staff, some are parents helping coach their kids, while others are individuals from the community who share the same Y values.  ALL of our coaches go through a background check.  Your child’s safety is our #1 priority.

How often are practices?
Our teams practice once a week. We know your life is busy so most of those practices will last around one hour.

Will practices be at the Y?
We wish we could accommodate all team practices at our Y, but due to scheduling, some teams may practice at other locations in town.

Where will games be played?
All of the games will be held here at the Muscatine Community YMCA.

For our younger kiddos not yet old enough to participate (ages 3 to 5 years ), we offer classes where they can gain knowledge of basketball skills and team-play or play in small-sided skill games.
